Frequently Asked Questions

Who can open a Flagstone account?

This introductory offer is available to new individual clients who are resident in the UK and 18 years of age or older. For joint accounts, businesses, charities and trusts please visit www.flagstoneim.com.

How does Flagstone's cash deposit platform work?

Flagstone partners with many banks and building societies meaning you do not have to shop around and spend time completing applications forms for each new account. Your Flagstone account gives you easy access to a choice of savings accounts including exclusive accounts not available elsewhere.

Is there a fee for using the Flagstone platform?

Interest rates shown already reflect the deduction of Flagstone's share of interest and is what you will receive. This is calculated and paid back to you upon maturity.

Flagstone has reduced their share of interest on our introductory offer to provide you with this rate. This offer is only available to new Flagstone clients through specially selected partners. Please apply through this page to benefit from this offer.

What is 'share of interest'?

There is no fee for using the platform, rather Flagstone receive a share of interest, paid to us by the Bank that you select to deposit with. The share of interest is a portion of the interest accrued in the account but it does not impact the rate you have selected, the interest rates you see are what you will receive.

Do I receive FSCS protection?

Yes. In the event that one of the banks on the platform, or the holding account bank (HSBC), were to go into administration, assuming the bank in question was a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), then our client (if eligible) would have a single claim under the FSCS limited to the deposit compensation limit of £85,000. (1)

(1) FSCS deposit protection is £85,000 per depositor (£170,000 for joint accounts) per bank. For more information please refer to FSCS.

What type of accounts are available through Flagstone?

Flagstone will offer you the option of several deposit accounts including instant access accounts, notice accounts and fixed term interest rate accounts.

When will I receive interest from my deposit account?

For fixed term deposit accounts, interest is paid at the end of the term. For a notice account, the funds remain in the account indefinitely until you provide Flagstone with notice that you want to return the funds to your holding account. For details of how interest is paid on instant access accounts, please refer to the Terms & Conditions for the specific account available on the platform.

How long does it take to open an account?

Our application process allows you to submit your details online. Once your application form and the required supporting documents have been received and processed, your Flagstone account will typically be opened within a few minutes but on occasion can take up to two working days.

What do I need to open a Flagstone account?

Basic personal details including employment status and address history
Tax status including National Insurance number or your Tax Identification Number (TIN) where relevant
Information about the source of funds you wish to deposit
Details of a UK mainland bank account ('nominated account') you wish to deposit from and have funds returned to.
You may be required to provide copies of proof of ID, proof of address, or proof of source of funds after submitting your application.

Is my money secure with Flagstone?

Flagstone partners with top tier technology providers and security experts to ensure the end-to-end security. We employ practices and techniques to keep our platform up to date with the ever-changing security landscape and to provide a secure platform to our clients.

Flagstone has adopted internal systems and controls designed to protect client funds from the risk of fraud. These include relevant IT controls, appropriate segregation of duties, restricted access rights and signature protocols.

Importantly, Flagstone does not allow any third-party payments and will only ever authorise payments from a client’s Flagstone holding account to their nominated account.

What are instant access, notice and fixed term accounts?

With instant access accounts, you can deposit and withdraw your money at any time.

With a notice account, the funds remain in the account indefinitely until you provide Flagstone with notice that you want to return the funds to your holding account.

On receipt of your instruction, Flagstone will give notice to the bank and the notice period will start (e.g. 120 days for a 120 day notice account).

A fixed term deposit account has a specific term (e.g. 3 months or 12 months). Once a fixed term deposit account is open and funded it cannot be broken until the end of the term. This means that your cash is locked up in the account for the full length of the term, after which it automatically returns to your holding account with the interest that has accrued on the deposit.

How do I get my money back after my deposit account matures?

At a maturity event, all monies (principal and interest) will be returned to your Flagstone holding account. You will be notified by email once the monies have cleared in your holding account. You can then request a withdrawal for the funds to be returned back to your nominated account via the platform or redeposit the funds into any of our market-leading and exclusive deposit accounts available to you.
